What are you listening to?

Post by cayce »

General thread for music!

I'm revisiting the very synth-groovy 'Le Piano' by Donny Benet: https://donnybenet.bandcamp.com/album/le-piano

I was sold on this by youtube recommending me one of his videos, a rare case of an algorithmic suggestion being accurate -- if there's one thing I love, it's someone being committed to a bit, and this guy definitely is: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kl5jH8eUbEY

6ish months ago I got into My Chemical Romance for the first time and now I just listen to The Black Parade all the time. It is such a great album.

These are really nice...

I've been listening to a lot of sunshiney '90s alt rock not-the-Breeders band Belly. And 1980s heartland ballad synthpop stuff like Berlin - Take My Breath Away, Til Tuesday - Voices Carry, Madonna - Material Girl... Pretenders singles... whatever they put in Miami Vice episodes (including that Jan Hammer theme)... oh and been craving to do a Duran Duran song at karaoke.

This song by Th' Faith Healers comes back to me again and again

wow lightning bolt is so fun. I went to see them when I was like 19 at one of the first "FYF fests" when it was one day long and $5. it was right after 'earthly delights' came out so everyone was stoked. we beat each other to shit while choking on dust from the LA desert. also converge and dillinger escape plan were there. my first and only good music festival experience

I think they're in like the 'dan deacon zone' for me as in like, yeah I liked them when I was a kid and I wouldn't really listen to them much now but I would still go to a show because they're singularly fun experiences that aren't really comparable to other live shows. oxbow is here too. sunn also sort of is but not really because I still love them and listen to them all the time lol
